I have been involved with Ozanam House teaching cookery classed to adults since 2009. In my day job I manage the IT Projects for the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.  I have been to Ozanam Come Dancing in previous years so I decided to sign up, as at the very least I’d have fun, and hopefully learn a new skill! However, it can be hard to find a male partner – Then I got a Kris Kindle present of some lovely sparkly dance shoes and the gift of my colleague Johnny who I know will be a great partner to dance with.   I feel very fortunate to be part of Ozanam Come Dancing and hopefully we will raise much needed money to help towards the running of this great centre!

Helen

I feel very privileged to work for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Each year I see the enormous effort that Members and Volunteers put in to raise much needed funds to help those who most need our help – so in 2017, rather than just count it, I can help raise it! I am delighted to be partnering my colleague Helen although I had to change the ‘secret’ of Kris Kindle to tell her. All we need to do now is teach my left foot to follow my right foot and practice, practice, practice!!

Orla and Sean

Hi, I’m Órla. I’m a 25 year-old student working part-time. I was given the opportunity to take part in this year’s strictly for Ozanam and jumped at the chance. I’m extremely nervous but also excited to see the end result.

Orla

I’m Seán, I work as a design engineer. So far I’m really enjoying Ozanam Come Dancing. I’ve no dance experience whatever but I’m excited for the challenge.

Joanne and Rory

I’m excited to be doing the event because it’s a great opportunity to get involved with St Vincent de Paul, it’s a great way to offer support while having fun at the same time. I’m learning more about what St Vincent de Paul and how the organisation works.

Joanne

This is such a great cause. I am getting the chance to give back to the community. Having had a little experience helping with the SVP, I know some of the great work they do. The time and dedication that the volunteers give is fantastic. Stepping out of my comfort zone and onto the dancefloor is the least I can do, knowing that the money raised goes towards those who need it.

Deirdre and Dariusz

I began my career in AIB in August and when I heard there was a Strictly Come Dancing taking place I leapt at the opportunity. When I’m not in the office, I’m putting my Music degrees to use as a nomadic clarinet player in many orchestras like the Humanitarian Symphony Orchestra. Recently, I have taken up ballroom and latin dance, finding the real joy behind it all. In doing Ozanam Come Dancing, my main aim is to make my partner Dariusz proud, and to not fall over.

Deirdre

Born in Poland, I have been living and working in Ireland for nearly 10 years. In my opinion joining a club or doing charity work is a great opportunity to learn something new, meet interesting people and make new friends. I am delighted to devote his time to Ozanam House. Music has always been very important in my life and I love dancing. Why not share what I truly enjoy with other people and raise money for a great cause.  Ozanam Come Dancing is a perfect way to combine both of these.

Aisling and Ross

We are delighted to take part in Ozanam Come Dancing 2017. McCann FitzGerald has a long standing affiliation with Ozanam House and through this, we have learned about the great work that the team in Ozanam House do. Having spent time meeting the team first hand recently we are extremely impressed and humbled by the work that they do for the local community.

Many of our colleagues have taken part in Ozanam Come Dancing in the last few years and we know they have had huge fun in the process. We look forward to the experience over the next few months and hope to do our very best for Ozanam House!

Pauline and Shane

I have worked in Ozanam House now for almost 2 years. I have always loved to dance and after witnessing first-hand the amazing work Ozanam House does to help children and adults within the local community, I couldn’t think of a better way to fundraise and help bring awareness to this fantastic charity.

Pauline

My colleague Moira participated last year and said it was great fun, even though it may seem daunting for someone has not danced before! It is a million miles outside my comfort zone but it is for a fantastic cause – Ozanam House is a great resource for the local community. So I thought why not give it a go, it does sound like fun and if we can raise some money along the way to support the work the Ozanam team are doing then it will be very much worthwhile.

Brian and Ciara

We decided to get involved with this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing competition to raise awareness for all the hard work done by the people in SVP. We are both very excited to show of our dance moves (especially Brian, he has been doing extra classes for weeks) and hope that we raise as much money as possible for this great charity.

Margo and Kevin

I have known Kevin since we were teenagers and we are married 33 years this year.  We are always on the dance floor at Weddings and parties and have often said we would love to take proper dancing lessons but never got around to it until now.  Working in the area I am aware of how vitally important Ozanam House is to the community and of the wonderful work carried out there.  I am honoured to fundraise for such a wonderful facility and we are having the time of our lives so far!

Margo

When Margo first asked me would I dance in Ozanam Come Dancing she was watching Strictly at the time so of course I said yes never realizing that she was serious!! I love music but have no dance experience apart from the usual wedding and parties, so I’m both excited and terrified at the prospect of stepping on the dance floor. In any event it’s all about doing the best we can for such a good cause…and my trying to avoid stepping on Margo’s toes !!
