It’s been another active week for the Men’s Group with lots of chats, games of pool, cooking and some friendly competition when Scrabble was played on Thursday.
On the cooking menu on Thursday there was spaghetti bolognese. What wasn’t eaten in the cookery room was parceled up for the guys to take home.

The Men’s Group returned this week. Like many of us, they had a quiet Christmas period and were happy to be back socialising with thier peers in the group.
Bingo was popular this week with 2 sessions taking place on Tuesday and Thursday with some practical prizes on offer.
The Men’s Group returns from 10th January 2017 at 2pm.
We’re already looking forward to another successful year of social activities!
The Men’s Group held its Christmas outing to Dublinia at Christchurch on Thursday afternoon.
14 men went on the trip and all were very impressed by the historical exhibition of Viking Dublin.
Following the visit to Dublinia, we headed off to Il Corvo restaurant in Drumcondra for Christmas dinner.
The group finishes up on Friday for the Christmas break and will return on Tuesday 10th January.

There was a very competitive element in the room on Tuesday when the men all took part in our bi weekly bingo session.
We also held a raffle for some goodies so the guys all got a chance to win something. We’re looking forward to the Christmas themed table quiz next Tuesday (13th) where there will be some very nice prizes as well as goody bags for all who attend.
We held the first of our winter table quizzes on Tuesday at the Mens Group.
After 4 rounds of general knowledge, music, sport & Irish trivia questions, Team A (or the A Team as they like to be called!) emerged as the champs. They are pictured below with their prizes. Well done to all the guys and volunteers for taking part.
We are going to alternate to Bingo every second Tuesday going forward so it’s eyes down and away we go….!!
The Men’s Group is very diverse. From age to experience, we have such a broad range attending the group each week.
On Thursday, our oldest member, Patrick (Pat) Cummins, celebrated his 94th birthday by attending the group. When asked what he attributed his longevity to, Pat mentioned that he didn’t drink but that it’s not too late for him to start having a wee drop!!

The Men’s Group has been very busy doing activities this week.
On Tuesday the guys played pool and board games. We are planning to hold a table quiz (with some very nice prizes!) next Tuesday now that the pottery classes are finished.
As usual, Thursday saw some of they guys take part in cooking class and they made a delicious chicken stir fry with rice for the group this week.
On Friday, some of the men take part in yoga while others played pool, board games & cards.
That’s not all….. they even had time to freshen up the window planters with some nice winter pansies.
All in all, it was another busy & fun week here at the Men’s Group.
3pm on Thursday afternoon at the Mens Group in Ozanam House is Bake Off time!
Some of the men are proper Paul Hollywood’s when it comes to preparing and baking their cakes.
This week Tony, Phillip, Joe and Larry did themselves proud when they made delicious strawberry cheesecake and lemon drizzle cake. There wasn’t time to check for soggy bottoms because the rest of the group devoured the yummy cakes.
We’re already looking forward to what they guys will cook for us next week.
