Leah and Shane

How are you feeling? How do you think you will do on the night?

Shane: “Still a little hungry. I am actually really looking forward to the night of dancing. Leah and I finished the main part of our routine last week and now all we have to do is add the polish and the pizzazz!”

Leah: “I am feeling excited, the butterflies are starting to set in!! I am hoping for a win because let’s face it if you’re not a winner…you’re a loser!”

How is your partner getting on?

Shane: “Leah has been brilliant and has battled through a bad back to be a brilliant partner.  We’re gonna rock (like Tony)!”

Leah: “Shane is doing pretty well. I just wish he would stop stepping on my toes!”

What were your best moments? What is your best memory of this experience so far?

Shane: “I’ve really enjoyed learning the moves and putting them to music, which is basically everything – so, I’ve enjoyed everything!  My best souvenir is gaining a new friend in Leah and a new skill.”

Leah: “The best moment for me is yet to come! I think the performance will be the most memorable part however our rehearsal in the venue was great I enjoyed sizing up the competition”

Any tips for anybody thinking of doing this in the future?

Shane: “Do it!”

Leah: “Go for it! Just make sure you are committed to some hard work and lots of fun”

“We are feeling content but a little bit nervous still. We hope to be able get threw the routine with out any obvious mistakes.”

How is your partner getting on?

“We are a very new partnership, but it is going really well despite having to do 8 weeks of training in only 10 days!”

What were your best moments? What is your best memory of this experience so far?

Jim: “My best moments were: -1 when I was chosen for this competition

-2 when June praised us for are progress this week. My best memory of this experience so far has been the fact that I am doing something which has given me an insight into a whole new world of dancing for such a wonderful cause.”

Any tips for anybody thinking of doing this in the future?

“ Our advice would be to be prepared to spend a lot of your personal time doing something else for the good of someone else and to have your dancing shoes polished up and finally be prepared for the roller coaster of your life.”

Lizzie and Jim

Lizzy and Jim

Lizzie has been volunteering with SVP for nearly 3 years and has begun a college course in social care thanks to her experience with Ozanam House. She performed in Ozanam Come Dancing last year and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and came in a proud second place with Simon. Maybe in this short space of time herself and Jim can bring home the gold.

Jim works as a chef in McCann FitzGerald.Jim’s only dancing experience was Irish dancing classes at the age of seven but sadly he did not make River Dance! At the moment his children are calling him “Happy Feet” but he feels more like Henry VIII as he is now with his third dance partner! His wish is to perform the dance well after all of June’s hard work teaching them and they will definitely be aiming for the under dog vote.

Sally and Conor – The competition and their idols

Sally and Conor

How are you feeling? How do you think you will do on the night?

“We’re feeling nervous but excited. There are a bit of jumps in our dance so it will be touch and go. We seem to get it right 50 percent of the time!!”

What do you think of the other competitors?

“Everyone is really friendly and seems to be enjoying the rehearsals. All the dancers seem to be coming along nicely”

Who do you think you have to watch out for? Who do you think is the best dancer from your fellow contestants?

“Jim has got the ballroom moves but the chemistry between Sarah and Joe can’t be ignored!!”

If you could have one dance with anybody you liked in the whole wide world who would it be and what dance would you like to dance to?

Conor: “I think James Brown could definitely have given me a few tips for my dance on the 26th

Sally:” 50cent because I have always had a secret desire to appear in a rap video”
