Dave and Bernice are dancing the Jive.
I first became involved with Ozanam House a few years back, volunteering with the homework club and then the summer project. Since moving away from Dublin I haven’t been involved with the centre for a while. I was so excited to hear that the centre were looking for volunteers to take part in this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing. I was really excited about the chance to learn something new while raising funds for the summer project too. I even managed (eventually) to rope my husband into being my dance partner. The summer project is such a worthwhile cause and we’re so delighted to be a part of it again.
BerniceAfter a lot of persuasion, my wife finally got me to agree to be her dance partner for this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing. It wouldn’t be my usual cup of tea but on hearing all about what Ozanam House do, especially the Summer Project, I couldn’t say no. Now that we’ve startedĀ rehearsals, I’m having fun and looking forward to the big night! Fingers crossed I don’t mess it up š
Dave
How are you getting on with rehearsals?
Any surprises?
This week’s rehearsals have definitely been the toughest. I blanked twice and had a fall…the nerves are starting to kick in!
What was your first experience and impression of the song and dance?
I love our song, I cant tell you what it is, it’s a secret š But its really lively and fun. I don’t think it would be Dave’s cup of tea though! I’m pretty sure he won’t let me play it again after March 4th! I’m so excited we’ve been given a jive…its definitely my favourite dance to watch on strictly.
What three words best describe your dance?
Upbeat, fun and fast!
How were the first few dance practices?
The first couple of rehearsals were fine. We seemed to be picking up the steps quickly but its starting to get a bit tougher now as we get closer to the big night!
Did you ever think you would find yourself doing something like this?
I absolutely love dancing and after watching my friend take part in a strictly fundraiser I’ve been dying to give one a go.
