Every year, the active retirement group goes to the Third Age Centre in Summerhill in County Meath. About 200 people from different groups gather for a roast chicken dinner followed by an afternoon of music from the showband era and lots of dancing. This is always a very enjoyable afternoon – the dance floor is full from the get go and there is much talk of sore feet on the way home on the bus
We always celebrate birthdays in the active retirement group with a card signed by everybody and a cake with candles. One of our members is a sprightly seventy-six today.
In March, we met first of all in the Muse Café in Easons for a light breakfast before making our way to the Wax Museum. Everyone enjoyed the outing and had a lot of fun posing with popular characters.
