Lauren and JamesWhat dance have you chosen for the show? What music will you dance to?

“We have chosen the Cha-Cha-Cha. And we are dancing to Mucho Mambo by Shaft.”

What three words would you say best describe your dance?

“Energetic, tricky and fun.”

How are you getting on with it?  Have you surprised yourself?

“We are getting the steps OK now but making it look good is another matter. We’re getting there though with the overall dance and we’re looking to try some new moves as well. If we get them right it will be a good show 🙂 ”

“We are waltzing our way to victory to the sound of Moon River!

What three words would you say best describe your dance?

“Classy, elegant, stylish. None of which we have mastered”

How are you getting on with it?  Have you surprised yourself?

“We’ll definitely be ready for next years Come Dancing! We are very surprised we haven’t learnt not only our dance but everyone’s else’s too. We thought we would be incredible at this stage 🙂 ”

Alma and Jim

Alma and Jim aka the “Dream Team” are both working for McCann FitzGerald.

Alma is a legal secretary and Jim is a chef. Their hobbies are space walking, diamond collecting and deep sea diving 007 style! Their dance experience comes down to some moves at Leggs on Leeson Street at 3 am!

Jim also has some experience of table dancing while on holidays in Turkey ‘tanked up with Raki’! As for Alma, according to Jim, she is too perfect for that carry on….. apart of course from some belly dancing!

Sarah and Joe

Sarah is a legal executive at McCann FitzGerald. Her hobbies are practising yoga and walking her dogs! She has danced before doing classes in ballet and contemporary dance and has even tried her hand at teaching both.

Joe is a solicitor at McCann FitzGerald. During his free time he plays soccer and he has also been known to do some  power-lifting….way to go Joe! His dance experience comes down to the odd wedding,  the work Christmas party and some serious moves at Coppers at 3 am!Sarah and Joe 2

 

Sally and Conor

Sally and Conor are both trainee solicitors at McCann FitzGerald. Their hobbies are cricket and going out to Coppers.

Conor was involved in a musical youth society in Tipperary. He was caught on camera doing the “gangnam style” dance on a boat in Carrick-on-Shannon. We await the you tube clip!

Sally used to do street dancing when she was in school. She used to charge the boys in her primary school class £1, and would teach them how to street dance in her garage.

Leah and Shane

Leah and Shane aka “Sheah”.

Leah works in Ozanam House as a Childcare Worker in the Childcare center. Her dancing career came to an end when she was six after a freak hand gliding accident and has been since known to clear a dance floor in seconds!

Shane is a volunteer at Ozanam House and helps to teach the young children guitar as well as working with the teenage youth groups. His hobbies are’ hunting with his eagles and volcano testing’, hmmm?! He has danced while dressed as a clown so has lots to live up to!

They were two time Equatorial Guinea Jive Champions (in 1978 and 1979)!!!

Lauren and James both work in technology. They’ve both volunteered in Sunshine House, so Ozanam House and SVP  are very close to their hearts. They met at college and both volunteered with Trinity SVP  running their kids club and getting involved in the SVP Panto .

Lauren is a technology analyst for Accenture. She has been a tap dancer since she was 3 and has always wanted to learn ballroom dancing.

James is the founder of his own company Visilit. He is a drummer in a band so they’re hoping he has natural rhythm!

Fiona and Dave

Fiona has been a volunteer in Ozanam House with various youth groups for the last 3 years. She is a primary school teacher. She spends her free time volunteering at Ozanam House and running and minding her puppy Cujo. She was described as “an uncoordinated heifer” by her Ballet teacher when she was 7….We’re sure she was wrong Fiona!

Dave works as a Pensions Administrator and he heard about Ozanam House through Fiona. His hobbies are playing soccer, reading, watching TV, eating… He doesn’t really have any dance experience except for one year of ballet when he was a kid! Well…only one that he is willing to admit anyway!

Ann and Gary

Ann and Gary are both volunteers at Ozanam House. Ann works with the Ozanam Youth Group and Gary has been involved with the summer project for the past 2 years. They both work as primary school teachers.

Ann’s hobbies are reading and eating. She comes from Cork and appeared in a ‘Rat in a Tap’ version of the Pied Piper of Hamlin  when she was 5.

Gary is a true blue Dub. His hobbies are swimming and reading. Ozanam Come Dancing will be his very first dance experience!

Ozanam Come Dancing is our biggest annual fundraising event, where we hope to raise funds to support the many youth programmes that we provide in Ozanam House.

We have 7 couples volunteering their time to learn a dance which they will perform on the night. You get to vote for your favourite and together with the Judges scores on the night, the couple with the most votes wins the competition!   With dances from the Quickstep to the Tango, the Paso Doble to the Jive, this promises to be an entertaining and fun night out!
