Pool Competition Final

SAM_1454 We had the Men’s Group Pool Competition final today. John and Tommy were our finalists, the two men who had battled through the competition to make it to the end.

It was a great match, a real nail-biter. It was very closely fought but John won through in the end and became the well-deserved 2015 champion.

SAM_1459Appetites were whetted for next year, and already talk has turned to the 2016 competition, so watch this space!

Presentation to the Mens Group

Restoration Project 003

We were surprised and thrilled when the staff of Ozanam House made a presentation to the Men’s Group this week, to thank us for the restoration work we did on the bureau now in the main hall.

It was great to experience that appreciation and sense of belonging. Now to find our next project after the summer! 🙂

Pool Competition: Semi-Finals

Two hard-fought semi-finals took place in the pool competition this week. There were upsets, surprises, trick shots, and snookers. All four semi-finalists played to a very high standard and each game was played respectfully, fairly and seriously.

John Sheekey and Tommy Smith emerged as the winners and we look forward to the final next Tuesday.

Restoration Project by the Mens Group

In April 2014, Ozanam House Men’s Group began a restoration project to bring this writing desk back to life.

102_4652After twelve months, and much hard work, it is ready for use again.

This beautiful bureau / writing desk is suitable both as a working desk and a decorative piece.

The Group wanted to ensure the desk found a good home and was considering raffling it to raise funds for the group.

Restoration Project 001

We – all of us in the centre, loved it so much we couldn’t let it go! We are delighted with its new home here in Ozanam House reception, taking pride of place.

It is a functional piece that compliments the period of Ozanam House. It will be acting as our new Visitor Sign-in Desk, along with holding leaflets and information about Ozanam House Resource Centre.
