Behind the Scenes at Ozanam Come Dancing

Ozanam Come Dancing would not happen at all if it was not for the bravery, dedication and talent of the dancers themselves.

A lot of hard work, sweat and tears goes into the rehearsals and luckily for us, our brilliant videographers Steven and Mark from ‘Offscript’ are on hand to capture this amazing journey.

Stay tuned for more updates on the dancers’ progress and you can watch the finished article at Liberty Hall on 9th March. Tickets are available now. €20 each. We hope you can join us on the night.

I am a Spanish and Irish national living in Ireland since 2007. I am a solicitor working for McCann FitzGerald. Despite the fact that I do not have any previous dancing experience I decided to support Ozanam House and Saint Vincent de Paul and participate in Ozanam Come Dancing. With everything that they do in the centre, providing educational, community, youth and childcare programmes I think it is a very worthwhile cause.

Rachael

I work with McCann FitzGerald Solicitors which has a long standing relationship with SVP. After hearing about the event, I knew I had to take part both because of the amazing work that Ozanam House does, and also because I believe it will be an unforgettable experience. I’m really looking forward to the coming weeks of rehearsals and getting to know all the other dancers taking part. The charity does fantastic work for the community and I am delighted to be taking part.

I think this is a great opportunity to help a really great charity, when I saw the amount of work Ozanman house do, it gave me inspiration to make sure I work hard to raise as much funds as possible to help their amazing service.  On a personal level, I am looking forward to being part of such a great charity event and in getting fit.

I wanted to get involved to give something to those who are less fortunate than a lot of us, and to get over a fear of stage fright, I wanted to get involved in some kind of dance for a long time now but never had the guts to do it. Can’t wait!

I had just recently started taking ballroom dancing classes when I heard about Ozanam Come Dancing. I figured that getting involved would be a fun challenge for a novice like me, while supporting the amazing work they do at Ozanam House. I’m very much looking forward to seeing what happens in the coming weeks, and if I’ll even be able to keep up!

Nina

I really loved dancing when I was younger, so when I heard about the opportunity to combine something I love with helping out an organization like SVP Ozanam House by taking part in Ozanam Come Dancing – I had to join in. Ozanam House does great work for the community and is definitely something I want to support. Having done voluntary work with children and elderly people myself, I have seen first-hand how much value even something very simple can have. I’m looking forward to fundraising for this great cause and to learning new things and having an amazing time!

Hi I am Chiara. I work as a financial accountant but I have always loved dancing. When my company sent an email to ask if someone wanted to participate in Ozanam Come Dancing I said yes.  I think this is a nice way to help people and in March we will dance for them. It won’t be easy but I will try to put all my efforts to make it look good!

Fabrizio

I am Italian coming from a small town on the north of the country. I always think how lucky I was with my small community in my town, with all the spaces and activities we had at our disposal. I’m very happy to take part in this event, as I can see the real need to create a community sense that I experienced in my youth. I admire the effort of everyone involved with Ozanam House. I hope by taking part in this great fundraiser and the show, I will help them to develop that sense of being a part of a positive community.

Dance; Bollywood

Song; “Mundian To Bach Ke” by Panjabi MC

Lynn

I’m proud to say I work for SVP as an Area Manager for Vincent’s shops in East region. It is a very humbling and rewarding place to work, knowing the proceeds from our shop team’s hard work goes straight back into supporting local communities. Although I was forced under duress to participate in this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing- I’m delighted that by embarrassing myself and making the other couples look good  I will help to raise much needed funds for the fantastic work that is done in Ozanam house!

Joe

I work as a Relief Shop Manager for SVP in the Vincent’s shop which gives me a great insight into the needs of the local community we serve. I was born and raised in the Inner city until I was 10years old. I remember the days when there was little to do to keep us occupied and on the straight and narrow, so I really appreciate the work Ozanam house does for young and old alike. I am also looking forward to teaming up with Lynn to enjoy a night of fun and fundraising all for a worthy cause! (she wrote this obviously!)
