Eimear & Ken

Eimear & Ken are married 10 years and last danced together on their wedding night. Eimear is a Director in McGivern Flynn Insurance Brokers & Ken work as a Regional Quality Exec in Diageo. Ken eagerly accepted the challenge to dance in this year’s competition as a Duo unknown to his wife Eimear. We are looking forward to the challenges ahead albeit anxious of mishaps and black toes! We are excited to be part of such a worthy cause as SVP Ozanam house and we hope that we learn some new moves, make some new friends and still have a marriage at the end of the competition!

I’ve become involved in the Ozanam Come Dancing event because it’s a very unique and interesting fundraising event and Ozanam House SVP as a charity creates a great sense of community and togetherness that makes you feel at home the second you come inside. I’m very excited to take part in this event as I enjoy pushing myself out of my comfort zone and trying new things. I’m also very glad to a part of such a remarkable event for a very moving cause.

Jamie

I have become involved in this amazing event because I want to give back to a support system that is there for others. I have heard about the event from management in my workplace. I want to push myself out of my comfort zone and either make everyone laugh and have an amazing night at the show or just learn the fact that dancing is just not for me! Either way we will raise lots of money and have lots of fun!

Gillian and Darryn

Dance; Charleston

Song; “Charleston” by Bob Crosby

I work with INM who are supporters of Ozanam House.  I volunteered with some colleagues to help paint the centre last year and was taken aback by the brilliant facilities and support they offer to local communities of North Inner City, Dublin. As a child, I took lots of dance classes – Irish, Tap, Jazz… you name it, I tried it.  I’m really excited to get involved with Strictly this year and brush up on my dancing skills for such a great cause.  I just hope Darryn doesn’t drop me on the night!”

Darryn

Hi I’m Darryn, I’m 25 and from Tallaght. I have followed SVP for a number of years and have always been inspired by the great work they have done in the community. I have always wanted to get involved in fundraising and I thought the best possible way was to provide people with a laugh, there was no upcoming comedy gig, so my dancing will have to do! Looking forward to dancing the Charleston with Gillian.

I am a part-time volunteer for SVP in Malahide. As this year’s Dublin Rose I chose to formally work with SVP to raise funds for the charity, and in September was asked to participate in Ozanam Come Dancing. I am so excited to be involved as first of all Ozanam House do such amazing work for the youth in the community, but also as I am a former Irish dancer and dancing is my passion. I cannot wait to get stuck into the practice sessions and hopefully raise some much needed funds for Ozanam House’s summer programme.

Derek

I used to be a teacher but went back to study for a couple of years to transition into finance. And into dance! Not really, I usually keep the dancing for the tail end of a night out but the gang in the office have strong powers of persuasion! Now that I’m here, I’m certainly concerned about ruining the show, and dance as we know, it but I’ll give it my best and am really happy to help out a brilliant community centre like Ozanam House with fundraising.

Brenda and Gary

Dance; Cha Cha

Song; “Mercy” by Duffy

Brenda

I am the general manager of Dance World.  I was introduced to Ozanam Come Dancing through Dance Worlds connection and sponsorship of the event. I have great admiration for the work and support Ozanam House gives to the local community. After watching the event the last couple of years it looked like a fantastic process to be a part of, I am delighted to be able to support and raise funds for the indispensable summer projects! I love to dance, and clearly force others to do so too….sorry Gary ?. Feeling both excited and nervous to perform, can’t wait to get started!

Gary

After being asked for years by Brenda to dance with her I finally got the courage and said I would and I know it’s a decision I definitely won’t regret.  From our first group meeting, where we were told about Ozanam House and its amazing work for the inner city community it was easy to see how much the centre means to everyone who uses it. And if making a show of myself on stage means that the centre can continue their work, then I’m happy to help!

I am a mother of two beautiful children and a full time secondary school teacher in the Donahies Community School.  I volunteered at the centre many years ago and saw all the hard work volunteers do and  the happiness they bring to the community. I wanted to become involved in this event as I love a challenge and I think it is such a creative way to raise money for such a deserving cause.  I am super excited at the thought of learning how to dance, dressing up in style and dancing in Liberty Hall. It will be a great story to tell the grandkids!  Go team Ozanam !!

Franco

My is Franco. I work in the Financial Services Department in Deloitte. I am delighted to be part of the event this year with an organisation that does so much for the community. Ozanam House provides activities to its members for learning and development, which is key for growth for children and people of all ages. I am excited to start fundraising and dancing with a great bunch of people. Hope it goes well for all of us!
