Odhran and Sarah

Odhran and Sarah are dancing the Charleston.

I’m doing the event because I’ve always liked dancing but never learnt formally and this is a great opportunity to give it a try while supporting a great organisation at the same time.”
Sarah

I heard about the Ozanam Come Dancing through a colleague at LCP, who has been involved in the past with other fundraising events for the charity.
I’ve always enjoyed making a fool of myself on the dance floor and thought that it would be a good idea to raise some money this time.
Ozanam House do great work for the community and I know the money raised will help to bring enjoyment to a lot of people.

Peter and Olga

Peter and Olga are dancing the Rumba.

We both enjoy dancing as a couple, and we wish that every couple would dance together even a little – it really creates another special bond between the two people.
We are delighted to be involved this year as it means we are able to do something good and help others while also enjoying the process – it also makes us feel great to be in this Ozanam House event.

Pól and Nicola

Pól and Nicola are dancing the Samba.

I’ve volunteered in Ozanam House for two years now and I can honestly say that I have enjoyed every single minute of it. I work with the senior youth groups. Over the last two years I have seen just how important Ozanam House is for all the young people.
It is a place for them to grow and learn both as individuals and as a group. I see first-hand the absolute pleasure the young people get from the centre. I hope that I can raise some much needed funds to ensure that this year’s summer project is bigger and better than ever!
Nicola

I want to do this for Ozanam house because I know the great work that goes on at Ozanam for the community.
I wanted to take part in the youth summer project but unfortunately my work commitments could not afford me the time so this is a great way to give something back to the community.

Cedric and Valerie

Cedric and Valerie are dancing the famous dance scene from the movie “Dirty Dancing”!

I wanted to do something for charity and I find this a great mix between SVP and giving back to the community.  We should all be a little more generous and give more of our time to helping others.
Cedric

When I heard of Ozanam House I was intrigued to find out more about it so I registered as a volunteer in the resource centre.  They do amazing work for the community.  I wanted to do this as my way of giving back, to show my support and of course, to have some fun while doing it.  We need more places like this around the country! Go SVP!

Dave and Bernice

Dave and Bernice are dancing the Jive.

I first became involved with Ozanam House a few years back, volunteering with the homework club and then the summer project. Since moving away from Dublin I haven’t been involved with the centre for a while. I was so excited to hear that the centre were looking for volunteers to take part in this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing. I was really excited about the chance to learn something new while raising funds for the summer project too. I even managed (eventually) to rope my husband into being my dance partner. The summer project is such a worthwhile cause and we’re so delighted to be a part of it again.
Bernice

After a lot of persuasion, my wife finally got me to agree to be her dance partner for this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing. It wouldn’t be my usual cup of tea but on hearing all about what Ozanam House do, especially the Summer Project, I couldn’t say no. Now that we’ve started rehearsals, I’m having fun and looking forward to the big night! Fingers crossed I don’t mess it up 🙂

Declan and Ann

Declan and Ann are dancing the Tango!

We have entered the competition for a number of reasons.  McCann FitzGerald has a tradition of supporting Ozanam House through participating in Ozanam Come Dancing and we are very happy to carry on that tradition.

Personally, we are delighted to be able to give our time and energy to such a worthwhile cause, and look forward to seeing first hand over the next couple of weeks some of the work that it does.
We are assured by past participants (and Tony!) that the rehearsal and the competition is a huge amount of fun, so we are looking forward to that once we figure out our left feet from our right.

We both believe it’s always a good thing to push yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit, and what could be more of a push than dancing a tango in public!

Getting Down to the Nitty Gritty

Getting Down to the Nitty Gritty

With only one month to go, prepartations have moved up a few gears!
Our Events committee are hard at work and our Ozanam Come Dancing night is beginning to take form. Leah marking stage area

The dancers are perfecting their dances and their confidence is continuing to grow. Our events coordinator, Leah, has been very busy this week, lining the stage dimensions in Ozanam House for our dancers to practice.

From our source inside of Ozanam House, it is reported that some couples are practicing up to four times a week; however, this has not yet been confirmed by the manager Tony.

Host Brendan Courtney

We can exclusively announce that our MC for this year’s Ozanam Come Dancing 2015 is the one, the only, Brendan Courtney!

We are delighted to have Brendan as our MC for the night and also given Tony a well-earned break as the front man of the show.

This week our posters are up and fundraising has begun for all of our dancers. Remember all of our dancers need your support for the night and each of them have an SVP fundraising page so please get donating!

‘And so the preparations begin…’

As most of you will know Ozanam Come Dancing is back with a BANG this year! We have  10 new couples, a bigger and better venue and of course some toe tapping music for all!

We have 20 new fresh faces gracing the stage this March, and with only 6 weeks left, they are all busy learning their moves under the watchful eye of dance choreographer, June Carr.  We’ve heard that after the first few dance practices, there has been a few nervous moments and giggles but altogether enjoyable first encounter for all.

To keep you up to date with our Dancers progress check out the dancers own personal blogs on:

We have moved!

Yes, you’ve read it correctly! After last year roaring success at the Academy,  we  have decided to move the venue to Liberty Hall on  Dublin’s Eden quays.
This venue can hold up to 400 people and has premium seating for anyone wanting to have an exceptional night out. We are so excited about the new venue and we will be keeping you posted on the decoration and preparation for the big night.

Lastly, we want to say welcome to our very first post from Ozanam Come Dancing  blog! Also watch this space as we will be putting up information about tickets and the inside scope on our dancers, preparations and behind the scenes!!
