Tesco Community Fund Donation

The Parnell Street Branch of Tesco Ireland, under their Community Fund scheme, has again very kindly donated the sum of €1,1340 to us at Ozanam House.

We are grateful for the kindness they have shown over many years and wish to thank them for their continued generosity.

The Tesco Community Fund was launched in July 2014, to support local good causes in the communities around each of our 176 stores throughout Ireland. Every 12 weeks, each Tesco store donates up to €2,000 between three local good causes in its community.

SVP – Celebrating 180 Years in Ireland

Ozanam House as part of the Saint Vincent de Paul are delighted to celebrate our 180th anniversary.

In 1844, the first SVP Conference, St Michan’s, was established in Dublin and since then, has spread through every one of the 32 counties meeting the needs of those everywhere who seek our help.

Throughout every period of change our members have been a bedrock of support for hundreds of thousands of Irish people. Our 180th anniversary Members Day on 20th April in the Dublin Convention Centre will be an opportunity to celebrate our history in Ireland but also to use the occasion to reflect and renew our commitment as we face into another period of societal change.

Blessed Frederick Ozanam

Blessed Frederick Ozanam

We take our inspiration from Blessed Frederick Ozanam, one of our principal founders. As a young university student in Paris in 1833, he and six companions set up a ‘Conference of Charity’ visiting poor people, bringing food, clothing, and friendship. They adopted St Vincent de Paul as their patron.

A sample of the thoughts:

Question 2:     What are you most nervous about on the night?

To be honest, tearing a hole in my fishnets. And Tiarnan dropping me!

(Ed: neither happened)

Question 3:     Do you have any funny stories from rehearsals so far?

Tiarnan calls me “Annette” when I get ratty with him. My alter ego, apparently.

AIB Christmas Jumper Day – in Aid of Ozanam House

A huge thank you to Margaret Mooney, Jean Kenny and their team in the AIB offices in Sandyford for the kind donation of €800, raised as part of their ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ in aid of Ozanam House.

It was great to see so many staff making the effort and getting involved in the event, wearing their jumpers, donating prizes or buying tickets for the raffle. Thank you so much to Margaret, Jean and everyone who got involved and supported Ozanam House.

Congratulations to Clare Schorman who won the award for best ‘Christmas Jumper’ on the day.

Cisco Staff Brightening Up Our Day

Staff from Cisco  were on board in Ozanam House to help paint our waiting area, rear corridors and back stairwells. Their hardwork painting made the place look so fresh and bright. So a huge thank you to the team and all involved.

Cisco’s CSR team work with non-profits and NGOs with the emphasis on “long-lasting impact on a local, national and global scale”. They certainly made a positive impact on Ozanam House.

Deloitte ‘Impact Day’ in Ozanam House

We were absolutely delighted to have have our corporate partners Deloitte Ireland on board yesterday to give the house a fresh look and a lick of paint as part of their staff ‘Impact Day’. What a amazing job they did. Without our corporate partners like Deloitte Ireland, Ozanam House would not be able to provide the services we do. A deep felt thank you to Sarah and the Deloitte Staff that participated yesterday and we look forward to working together again in the future.
