Active Retired Summer Trips 2023

On Monday the group enjoyed a hand ball workshop at the Croke Park Handball Alley. 

On Wednesday the group took part in a ten pin bowling tournament in the Alsaa.


On Tuesday we enjoyed some bush crafts in the woods of Gormanston College. 

The youth group enjoyed a day out to the escape boat on Grand Canal Dock on Thursday.  The team enjoyed working together to solve puzzles and escape the boat. 


On Friday we finished our teen summer camp with sports in the part and then we enjoyed a lovely meal together in Luigi Malones of Temple Bar.

ARG and Mens Group Bowling

The ARG and the Men’s Group have started a 4 week 10 pin bowling competition. They completed Round 1 last week at the ALSAA sports club.

Afterwards they headed over the road to a favourite haunt, Kiely’s for a nice meal before heading back to HQ.

ARG Visited Howth on Bloomsday

The group headed out to Howth with the crowds on Bloomsday last and visited the RNLI lifeboat station in Howth and had a great time. They were so impressed by the fantastic work that the RNLI do and they all thought that Ian Sheridan was an absolute Jem he was so nice to them talking them thhrough the fine work they do.

Mens Group Pool Competition and Jigsaw

Congratulations to Christy and Tom, our two finalists of the Ozanam Spring/Summer pool competition. Great pool played by both men with Christy winning this season’s title.

Congratulations to Joe on completing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican at our Men’s Group.

ARG have started a Wednesday Walking Group

We are calling ourselves the Wednesday Wanderers. Each Wednesday we will do a different walk around Dublin, a few weeks ago we walked to the Blessington Street Basin and enjoyed getting out and getting active.

ARG Trip to Dún Laoghaire

ARG members enjoyed a trip to Dún Laoghaire in the sunshine.

Active Retirement Group Trip to The Zoo

The ARG enjoyed a lovely trip to the Zoo last Wednesday, we even managed to have a picnic and escape the passing showers. A great day was had by all we walked over 10,000 steps in total!

Active Retirement Group Trip to Galway

Our Active Retirement Group were invited to Galway on a return visit by the Croí na Gaillimhe older persons group. The gang enjoyed creating a song together with musical group the Whileaways about Covid and their experiences during lockdown. A big thanks to Loretta, Mary and Loyola in Galway for a fantastic day.

Active Retirement Group News May

Two weeks ago we started our monthly seniors dance in the Hall during the afternoon and enjoyed some dancing, Karaoke and light refreshments.

Last week we began the first in our series of Drama classes with our Drama Teacher Margaret Bergin. The group enjoyed doing some life story work and recalling stories from their youth.

The group also tried their hand at working clay in the Craft classes.

We also said goodbye to our American intern Olivia this week. Thanks for everything Olivia and all the best for the future.

This months outings will be to the Zoo and also Dun Laoghaire day trip.
